My Time with the Chamber
By Kevin Snauko
My experience here at the Italian American Chamber of Commerce began last summer when I volunteered to work at the Italian Expo at Navy Pier. I worked at the event all weekend (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) selling tickets for the food vendors – *the volunteers get to eat for free. I was able to meet many people, speak Italian and had some great food and wine. After the event, the Chamber hosted a thank you dinner for the volunteers with a raffle for a complimentary ticket to Italy. I WON!!! I got to go to Italy for free! I chose when to go and made my reservations. I was in Italy for two weeks, and visited Milano, Torino, Reggio Emilia, Bologna, Firenze, and finally Roma!!! It was an experience of a life-time and can’t wait to go back. I am now interning at the Chamber and assisting with planning and hosting events of all kinds. I have also made many new friends from Italy.
